The Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF) has sent its deepest sympathies to former INEC boss Professor Attahiru Jega following the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.
Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, who chairs the forum, spoke on behalf of all 19 northern governors. He described the loss as a painful blow to the Jega family and everyone who knew her.
Hajiya Hadiza died on April 5, 2026. Family members buried her the same day at the National Mosque in Abuja following Islamic funeral prayers.
Governor Yahaya praised her life of grace, humility, and strong family values. He noted that her passing leaves a deep gap in the hearts of her loved ones.
The NSGF chairman urged the family to find comfort in her good works. He also prayed for Allah to forgive her sins, accept her good deeds, and grant her paradise.
Professor Jega led Nigeria’s electoral body from 2010 to 2015. He oversaw the 2015 general elections that brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power.
