Atiku Abubakar Decries Deadly Attack, Urges Action

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar strongly condemned the deadly attack in Gari Ya Waye community, Angwan Rukuba, Jos. He described it as a “barbaric assault” and a sign of Nigeria’s worsening security.

In a statement on his verified Facebook account, Atiku expressed grief over the Sunday night attack on March 29, 2026. The assault left scores of Nigerians dead and many others injured.

“I am outraged by the barbaric attack… which claimed the lives of scores of innocent Nigerians and left many others injured,” he said, mourning the victims and offering condolences to their families.

Atiku criticized the current state of security, calling the incident “a damning sign of the near-total collapse of security.” He warned that the situation reflects a deeper crisis in which “human lives are treated as expendable.”

He also decried repeated government rhetoric without results. Despite endless pronouncements and so-called marching orders, insecurity continues to define the daily reality of ordinary Nigerians.

“It is long past the time for outrage without action,” he stressed. Atiku urged authorities to demonstrate the political will needed to tackle the menace decisively.

He warned against normalizing violence. “The continued slaughter of innocent citizens cannot become our new normal,” he said. Atiku called for urgent, concrete measures to restore safety and public confidence.

Atiku offered prayers and solidarity to the victims’ families, describing the moment as “dark and painful.
