Zulum Appoints Nursing Colleges Governing Councils

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has appointed chairmen and governing council members for three nursing colleges in Borno State.

The appointments cover the Colleges of Nursing Sciences in Maiduguri, Gwoza, and Monguno.

Additionally, the governor appointed 23 members to serve on the three governing councils.

Dr. Mairo Mandara will chair the Governing Council of the College of Nursing Sciences, Gwoza.

Meanwhile, retired nurse Hauwa Mustapha will chair the governing council of the Maiduguri college.

Furthermore, Rukaiya Shettima Kamfut will chair the governing council of the Monguno college.

The appointments follow laws enacted by the Borno State House of Assembly establishing the three institutions.

Governor Zulum approved the appointments based on integrity, educational background, and public service records.

Additionally, each council will include a chairman and seven members.

Four members will serve in statutory positions.

They include the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services.

The Director of Nursing Services will also serve on each council.

Furthermore, the Provost of each college will serve as a statutory member.

Meanwhile, the Registrar will serve as secretary of each governing council.

Three additional members will represent community interests from the state’s senatorial districts.

Officials said the councils will strengthen institutional governance in the colleges.

Furthermore, the move will support the state’s healthcare workforce development strategy.
