Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed deep sorrow over the killing of more than 20 people by gunmen in parts of Adamawa State, describing the incident as tragic and deeply troubling.

In a statement reacting to the attacks, Atiku said he was “deeply moved” by the violence that reportedly occurred in market areas in Madagali and Hong local government areas.

According to him, the attack not only underscores the worsening state of insecurity in the country but also further aggravates the protracted crisis in the North-East region.

“The attack not only highlights the worsening insecurity in the country but also deepens the North-East crisis,” he said.

The former presidential candidate lamented the continued loss of innocent lives, particularly in communities that have endured years of insurgency and armed violence.

Atiku called on security agencies and relevant authorities to intensify efforts to tackle the menace, stressing the need for justice and preventive action.

“I urge the authorities to redouble their efforts to address this menace, ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, and strengthen security to prevent future attacks,” he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of improved intelligence gathering, enhanced community protection, and sustained security operations to restore peace and stability in affected areas.

The attacks have reignited concerns over safety in rural communities across Adamawa, with residents appealing for increased security presence to prevent further bloodshed.
