The Director-General of the controversial Phantom Council, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, says he is ready to face any investigation into the council’s activities.

He made the declaration during an interview with social media personality VeryDarkMan after President Bola Tinubu directed the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the council and all related matters.

Adeyemi said he has nothing to hide. He also welcomed a lawful investigation into the council’s activities.

Public attention shifted to the council after reports linked it to a ₦1.3 billion allocation in the 2026 federal budget. The reports also raised questions about the council’s legal status and operations.

Addressing the controversy, Adeyemi promised to cooperate fully with investigators. He said a transparent investigation would reveal the truth.

“I am willing and ready to help security agencies or any panel set up by Mr. President to unravel the truth,” he said. “In fact, I will go to the DSS or the police to submit all the documents I have to support the investigation.”

According to Adeyemi, the documents will explain how the council came into existence. They will also help investigators confirm whether officials followed the proper procedures.

“They should authenticate them. They should verify them. They should unravel the truth,” he added.

Meanwhile, political leaders and civil society groups continue to demand an independent investigation. Their goal is to establish how the council was created and how it received funding.

On Tuesday, President Tinubu had ordered the ICPC to investigate the activities of the purported council and submit a comprehensive report within 30 days.

The commission will examine the council’s legal status, funding, and budget allocation. Investigators will also determine whether anyone violated the law. Nigerians now await the outcome of the probe.
