Nigerians Commend Dan Bello’s Education Initiative

A fresh wave of reactions has followed the renovation of Kadawa Science and Mathematics Special School in Kano State by social commentator and activist Dan Bello, with many Nigerians praising the intervention as a model for educational development.

The school, established in 1970, is regarded as one of Kano State’s historic institutions, having produced several prominent politicians, business leaders and professionals over the decades. Despite its legacy, the institution had reportedly suffered years of neglect, with deteriorating infrastructure affecting learning conditions.

According to supporters of the project, Dan Bello, in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), facilitated the renovation of key sections of the school, transforming the environment into what many described as a modern learning facility.

Photos and videos circulating online showed renovated classrooms, improved facilities and a cleaner academic environment, drawing commendation from many Nigerians who described the intervention as timely and impactful.

The development has also reignited conversations around leadership, public accountability and the state of education in Nigeria, with some citizens questioning why such interventions were not carried out earlier by relevant authorities.

Observers say the project highlights the growing role of civic actors and private individuals in addressing gaps in public education, especially in northern Nigeria where many schools continue to face infrastructural challenges.

The renovation has since sparked wider debate on social media over the kind of leadership Nigerians should encourage and support, particularly in sectors critical to national development such as education.
