An amateur boxer identified as Kehinde, popularly known as KBlaq, has been stabbed to death with a broken bottle during a street confrontation at Olodo Garage in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The incident, reportedly occurring on Sunday, has sparked outrage on social media, with acquaintances of the deceased calling for justice and demanding that the suspected attacker be brought to account.
Accounts circulating online suggest that Kehinde was not involved in the initial fight, which had reportedly ended before the suspect allegedly arrived and attacked him with a broken bottle.
The suspected attacker was accused of stabbing the boxer in the neck, leaving him with fatal injuries. However, the circumstances surrounding the confrontation remain unclear.
Social Media Users Demand Justice
The killing has generated reactions from social media users, some of whom questioned why Kehinde was attacked despite claims that he was not involved in the earlier altercation.
An X user, @MVKAY2, alleged that the stabbing occurred after the initial fight had ended and claimed the suspected attacker was not part of the confrontation.
Another user, @omononaolapo, also alleged that the suspected attacker was not among those involved in the original fight.
Expressing grief over the incident, another user, @Tunde, described Kehinde as his brother and criticised the circumstances surrounding the killing.
Similarly, @Fela said he was shocked by the news, explaining that the deceased was a friend of his younger brother.
Another user, @Pelumifundz, who described Kehinde as the younger brother of a friend, said he was a twin and was known for his gentle and peaceful disposition. The user called for a thorough investigation to establish what led to the fatal attack.
Oyo Police Confirm Incident, Begin Investigation
Meanwhile, the Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the killing, saying an investigation is ongoing.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident but did not provide further details about the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
The police investigation is expected to establish the sequence of events leading to Kehinde’s death and identify those responsible for the attack.
