The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that the Buruku Bridge project in Benue State has enough funding and will be completed by December 2027.
The bridge crosses the Katsina-Ala River and will improve movement between Benue, Taraba and Adamawa states.
Presidential aide Bayo Onanuga said the government has no funding issues with the project adding that the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund supports the construction.
The Buruku Bridge will become the fifth bridge built by the Federal Government in Benue State. The project shows the government’s focus on improving transport links across the country.
The Federal Controller of Works in Benue State, Mukaila Danlandi, said the bridge has made strong progress as workers have completed key foundation works, including the pile caps and bridge piers.
The bridge will create a faster route for farmers to move their goods to markets and it will also connect Benue’s major food producing areas with other states. For many residents, the project brings hope after years of dangerous river crossings. Local leaders said many people have lost their lives in boat accidents along the river.
The construction has already created jobs for people in nearby communities. Residents are also gaining new skills while working on the project.
When completed, the bridge will connect Benue, Taraba and Adamawa more easily and also help businesses move goods faster and support regional growth.
The Federal Government says the Buruku Bridge remains on schedule. By 2027, the project is expected to become an important link for trade, transport and communities.
