Nigerian Afrobeats star Asake has expressed shock and sadness over the death of a 20-year-old woman, Karen Lojore, who died following a crowd crush at a concert he headlined in Nairobi, Kenya.
In a statement issued on Monday, the singer described the incident as devastating, saying his thoughts were with the victim’s family, friends and loved ones. Asake said he would support efforts to establish what led to the tragedy and called for accountability.
“My heart goes out to the family, friends and loved ones of Karen Lojore,” he said, adding that “those responsible should be held accountable.”

The incident occurred during the Asake and Gabzy Live in Nairobi concert, organised by Tukutane Entertainment, at a stadium with a reported capacity of about 30,000 people.
Family and friends of the deceased have called for a full investigation and justice, as public concern continues to grow over crowd control and safety arrangements at the event.
Kenya’s police spokesman, Michael Muchiri, confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing. Authorities have not yet released full details on the circumstances surrounding the crush.
The concert organisers said they are cooperating with security agencies to understand what happened. Meanwhile, several social media users reported long queues outside the venue, alleging that many concertgoers were stranded while attempting to gain entry, leading to overcrowding and confusion.
The incident has renewed calls for stricter enforcement of safety standards at large public events in Kenya.
