Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the establishment of a Polytechnic in Gaya Local Government Area as part of efforts to expand access to technical and vocational education across the state.

Governor Yusuf announced this while flagging off the second batch of the 1,001 Foreign and Domestic Postgraduate Scholarship Programme at the Government House, Kano.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Governor said the planned Polytechnic is a strategic step toward strengthening technical and vocational education, which he described as key to job creation and sustainable economic growth.

He explained that when operational, the institution will provide opportunities for young people in Gaya and neighbouring communities to acquire both academic and practical training that will prepare them for decent employment and entrepreneurship.

Governor Yusuf added that the Polytechnic would also serve as a skills development hub for artisans and craftsmen to upgrade their technical capacities and obtain formal qualifications.
