Hon. Hannatu Musamusa EQS, the Minister of Arts and Culture, has expressed appreciation to the Daura Emirate for honouring her with the traditional title of “Mairamar Kasar Hausa I.”

Musamusa made the statement in a public post on her Facebook page, where she described the conferment of the title by the Emir of Daura, HRM Dr. Umar Faruk Umar, CON, as a significant honour connected to her roots, heritage and the rich cultural traditions of the Hausa people.

She said she accepted the traditional title with gratitude and humility, while recognising the responsibilities attached to the honour.

According to her, the title represents more than personal recognition, describing it as a call to continue protecting, promoting and preserving Hausa culture and ensuring that its history, values and traditions are passed on to future generations.

Musamusa also expressed appreciation to Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, for honouring her with his presence at the occasion, as well as traditional rulers and traditional institutions.

She further thanked the people of Katsina State for the love, hospitality and warm reception extended to her.

The minister said the honour came as the celebrations marking Hausa Day were drawing to a close, adding that it had reinforced her belief that culture is not merely a heritage inherited from previous generations but a trust that must be protected, developed and transmitted to those coming after.

She pledged to carry the title of “Mairamar Kasar Hausa I” with pride and renewed her commitment to safeguarding, promoting and developing the cultural heritage of Hausaland.

“I am proud of my heritage. I am proud of our culture,” she said.
