Katsina Government Distributes 4,000 Farm Inputs to Boost Irrigation Farming

Governor Dikko Umar Radda of Katsina State has flagged off the distribution of 4,000 water pumps, 4,000 knapsack sprayers, herbicides, and liquid fertilizers to irrigation farmers across the state, as part of efforts to boost food production and support all-year-round farming.

Speaking at the launch on Monday, Governor Radda said the initiative underscores his administration’s commitment to transforming agriculture into a sustainable and profitable venture, in line with the Building Your Future agenda.

“This is not just a program; it is a practical demonstration of our administration’s commitment to sustainable agricultural development,” he said. “Agriculture remains central to our economic growth and job creation strategy.”

The governor explained that the intervention is aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity, ensuring food security, creating jobs, and empowering rural communities.

“Our vision is to make Katsina a leading agricultural hub where farming becomes a profitable and sustainable enterprise,” he added. “By providing modern tools and quality inputs, we are helping farmers increase yields, improve livelihoods, and reduce dependence on imported food.”

Governor Radda commended the Katsina State Community Development Program and the Ministry of Agriculture for their collaboration and urged beneficiaries to use the farm inputs responsibly to achieve the desired results.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to agricultural mechanization, value chain development, and youth engagement in agribusiness, noting that these efforts are key to achieving sustainable growth and prosperity in the state.
