The Adamawa State Government has announced that the 2025 Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign will run from October 18 to 28, targeting children and adolescents across all 21 local government areas of the state.

Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA), Dr. Bashir Suleiman Sa’idu, made the announcement during a media dialogue organized to engage journalists, social media influencers, and health partners in driving community awareness.

According to Dr. Sa’idu, the campaign will integrate multiple immunization services, including Routine Immunization for children aged 0–23 months, Measles-Rubella vaccines for ages 9 months to 14 years, Polio vaccines for children aged 0–59 months and HPV vaccines for girls aged 9 years

He stressed that all vaccines are free, safe, and vital to children’s healthy development, warning that both measles and rubella, though preventable, could cause severe complications if not properly addressed.

“We are also integrating the HPV vaccine to strengthen our fight against cervical cancer among women,” Dr. Sa’idu noted.

The Agency’s Director of Disease Control, James Vasumu, reaffirmed the government’s readiness to ensure the success of the campaign, urging parents and guardians to bring their children for vaccination.

Also speaking, UNICEF’s Social and Behavioral Change Specialist, George Ekiti, praised the media for its sustained role in previous health interventions, particularly during the polio eradication drive, and called for continued collaboration to ensure high community turnout.

The event, jointly organized by UNICEF and the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, forms part of broader efforts to enhance public awareness and strengthen community mobilization ahead of the vaccination campaign.
