Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have killed a Boko Haram terrorist and recovered arms and ammunition during an intelligence led operation in Yobe State.
The operation was conducted around the Lamusuri general area of Gujba Local Government Area of the state on Tuesday.
According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force, North East, Captain Mohammed Goni, the operation was carried out by troops of the 120 Task Force Battalion under Sector 2, alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force.
Goni said the troops acted on credible intelligence and moved along a suspected terrorist route at about 11am on September 1, 2026.
He said the troops sighted a group of Boko Haram terrorists moving along the route and engaged them in a gun battle.
“One terrorist was neutralised, while others fled the area with suspected gunshot wounds,” the statement said.
Following the encounter, the troops searched the area and recovered one AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 90 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition and one body pouch.
The military said the operation demonstrated the effectiveness of intelligence led operations and cooperation between troops and local security stakeholders.
It added that Operation HADIN KAI would sustain pressure on terrorist groups in the North-East, with the aim of restricting their freedom of movement and creating conditions for lasting peace and security in the region.
