The Take-It-Back Movement has staged a protest in response to the kidnapping of pupils and teachers in Oyo State, calling on authorities to take urgent and decisive steps to address worsening insecurity across the country.

The protest followed the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, where armed men attacked a school community and took away multiple victims. The incident has sparked public outrage and renewed concerns about the safety of schools, particularly in rural areas.

During the demonstration, members of the movement criticized what they described as an inadequate response to repeated cases of kidnapping affecting communities in different parts of Nigeria. They demanded immediate efforts to rescue the abducted pupils and teachers and stronger security measures to prevent further attacks.

The group also called for improved protection of vulnerable communities, especially schools in remote areas, and urged government authorities to strengthen intelligence gathering and rapid response mechanisms.

The Oyo abduction has added to growing national anxiety over school security, as several similar incidents in recent years have highlighted the exposure of educational institutions to armed groups operating in parts of the country.

Civil society voices have continued to argue that schools remain insufficiently protected and that security interventions often come after attacks have already taken place. The situation has intensified pressure on authorities to adopt more preventive strategies rather than reactive responses.

The protest underscores rising public frustration over repeated kidnappings and the broader insecurity affecting daily life in many regions.

As security operations continue in Oyo State to locate the abducted victims, the incident has once again placed national attention on the urgent need to strengthen protection for schools and communities vulnerable to armed attacks.
