Mal. Daurawa Urges Youth to Make Wise Marriage Choices

Marriage counselor, Mal. Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, has advised young people seeking marriage partners to pay close attention to family background, character, and religious values before making their choice.

He said anyone planning to marry should carefully observe the upbringing of a potential partner, including the conduct of her parents, siblings, and the general moral standard of the home where she was raised.

According to him, a person’s environment often shapes attitudes, behavior, and character, which may later reflect in marriage and family life.

Mal. Daurawa explained that many people naturally inherit certain habits and behaviors from their family background, adding that such traits can sometimes appear in their future children.

However, he noted that family background alone should not be the only basis for judging a person.

He stressed that not every individual becomes a reflection of their parents or relatives, noting that sound Islamic knowledge, good upbringing, education, and personal discipline can shape someone into a better person regardless of family history.

He said Islam places greater emphasis on faith, good manners, wisdom, and integrity when choosing a marriage partner.

Quoting the saying of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), he said: “When someone whose religion and character you are pleased with comes to you, then marry him.”

Mal. Daurawa listed the key qualities of a successful marriage to include good character, proper upbringing, fear of Allah, mutual understanding, and respect between couples.

He added that while good family background is important, a blessed and peaceful home is built more on righteousness, trust, and godly character than on lineage alone.

He urged intending couples to seek partners with strong faith and good conduct, saying such qualities remain the true foundation for a stable and successful marriage.
