As Muslims across Nigeria and around the world prepare to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, sacrifice, compassion and national unity in the spirit of the season.
In a statement issued in Abuja, the lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District urged Muslim faithful and Nigerians generally to reflect on the deeper values of Eid-el-Kabir, describing the festival as a powerful symbol of faith, obedience, selflessness and commitment to humanity.
According to her, the significance of the celebration extends beyond religious observance and offers important lessons capable of strengthening communities and promoting national cohesion.
“Eid el-Kabir is a sacred season of reflection and gratitude. It reminds us that sacrifice, faith, and compassion remain essential virtues in building peaceful families, stronger communities, and a more prosperous nation,” she said.
Akpoti-Uduaghan stressed the need for citizens to embrace the spirit of sharing and support vulnerable members of society, especially at a time when unity and collective responsibility are needed to address the country’s challenges.
She noted that the values demonstrated during Eid should inspire both leaders and citizens to place service, accountability and human dignity above personal interests.
“The significance of Eid goes beyond celebration. It is a reminder that true leadership and responsible citizenship demand sacrifice, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to the common good,” the senator added.
The Kogi Central senator also called for peaceful coexistence across religious and ethnic lines, warning against divisive tendencies capable of undermining national progress.
She maintained that Nigeria’s growth and stability can only thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect, tolerance and unity of purpose.
“As we mark this blessed celebration, let us renew our commitment to peace, tolerance, and unity. Regardless of our backgrounds or affiliations, our collective future depends on our ability to stand together and work for the progress of our communities and our nation,” she stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan further reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive representation and people-centred governance, while expressing optimism about Nigeria’s future despite prevailing economic and social challenges.
She also urged Nigerians to use the Eid season to pray for enduring peace, economic growth and responsible leadership at all levels.
Offering prayers for Muslims and the nation, the senator prayed for unity, stability and prosperity across the country.
“May Almighty Allah accept our sacrifices and acts of worship, forgive our shortcomings, and bless every family with peace, good health, abundant provisions, and renewed hope,” she said.
She concluded her message by wishing Muslim faithful a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Eid celebration.
“Eid Mubarak. Barka da Sallah.”
