Dua Lipa is suing Samsung for $15 million after the company allegedly used her image on TV packaging without permission. The lawsuit was filed in a US federal court in California.
According to the complaint, the tech giantused a photo of the singer on cardboard boxes for television sets sold across the United States, creating the impression that she endorsed the products.
Lipa’s legal team claims the singer never approved the use of her likeness. The lawsuit accuses Samsung of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and violating her publicity rights.
Her attorneys also said the company ignored repeated requests to stop using the image. Lipa is one of the world’s biggest pop stars, with hit songs including “Levitating,” “Physical,” and “Don’t Start Now.”
In a statement, the company said a third-party content partner supplied the photo for Samsung TV Plus promotions and assured Samsung that all permissions had been secured. Samsung added that it respects artists’ intellectual property rights and remains open to resolving the dispute with Lipa’s team.
