Prominent Nigerian political figures gathered in Abuja to attend the burial of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
The event drew a large crowd of dignitaries, reflecting the late matriarch’s influence and the wide network of the El-Rufai family.
Among those present were former Minister of Communications, Isa Ali Pantami, and the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II.
Also in attendance was Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, alongside the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
In addition, key opposition figures attended the burial.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, was present, as well as former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal.
Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, also joined other mourners to pay his respects.
Furthermore, Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umar Bago, attended the burial ceremony.
Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, was also among the dignitaries present.
The gathering brought together leaders across political divides.
Despite differences in party affiliations, they stood together in solidarity with Nasir El-Rufai and his family during this period of mourning.
Clerics led prayers for the repose of the late Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, while Family members, friends, and associates prayed for her soul and asked for strength for the family.
