The Chairman of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi), Ismael Ahmed, has announced plans to deploy about 100,000 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) conversion kits across Nigeria.

Ahmed said the directive came from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as part of efforts to expand access to cheaper and cleaner fuel.

According to him, the government is working with several partners to distribute the kits quickly.

“The President has given a direct mandate to deploy about 100,000 kits immediately. We are working with stakeholders to bring the kits into the market as soon as possible,” Ahmed said.

He explained that the initiative will allow many vehicles and tricycles to switch to compressed natural gas.

Ahmed added that the change will help transport operators and commuters reduce fuel costs.

The move is part of the Federal Government’s broader plan to promote CNG as an alternative fuel. The policy follows rising fuel prices and growing calls for cleaner energy in Nigeria.
