The President of the Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria, Dr. Bashir Aliyu, has called on Muslims to focus on important social and spiritual issues during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking during a Ramadan gathering in Nigeria, he stressed the need to strengthen the fight against drug abuse, especially among young people.

Dr. Bashir Aliyu said drug abuse is destroying lives, families, and communities, and urged religious leaders, parents, and authorities to work together to stop the problem.

He also encouraged wealthy Muslims to increase their Zakat payments, the compulsory charity in Islam, to support the poor and those in need.

According to him, Ramadan is not only a time for fasting but also a period to help others, purify wealth, and build a better society.

He prayed for peace, unity, and moral discipline in the country.
