Kashim Shettima has called on Nigerians to use the simultaneous observance of Ramadan and the Christian Lenten season to promote unity and compassion.

He described the period as one of spiritual renewal and collective nation-building.

In a statement, the Vice President said religious devotion must go beyond ritual to active service and national responsibility.

“Let us not only feed the hungry, but uplift the weary; not only give charity, but extend kindness; not only pray for peace, but work for justice,” he said.

Shettima described Ramadan as a journey of reflection, self-purification and service to humanity.

He also praised Nigeria’s religious leaders across faiths for serving as the nation’s moral and spiritual compass during the holy season.

The Vice President urged citizens to pray for national stability and reject forces that promote division.

He further requested prayers for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asking that divine guidance grant him wisdom and strength to lead the country.

Shettima said the overlapping religious observances offer a unique opportunity to strengthen the bonds that unite Nigerians.
