Life is slowly returning to Dilling, the second-largest city in South Kordofan, after Sudanese forces ended a siege that lasted more than two years.

The city had been cut off for months by the rapid support forces and leaving residents trapped with little food, medicine, or movement.

With the blockade lifted, markets are reopening and fresh food is returning to stalls.

Traders say vegetables that were once impossible to find are now available again, offering signs of economic recovery after a long period of hardship.

But daily life remains uncertain. Health facilities are struggling with severe shortages of drugs and equipment, and many residents are still dealing with the effects of long months without medical care.

Security is also a major concern. Local authorities say drone attacks continue almost daily, targeting parts of the city and nearby areas.

Residents say the fear of air attacks forces families to flee their homes at short notice, making normal life difficult.

While the end of the siege has brought relief and renewed hope, people in Dilling say real recovery will depend on improved security and urgent support for health services.
