The United States has issued a strong warning to Iran following the launch of a naval blockade targeting Iranian ports.

The move marks a sharp escalation in tensions between the two countries after diplomatic talks failed to produce a breakthrough.

US Vice President JD Vance warned Iran against further actions that could disrupt global trade.

Speaking after failed negotiations, Vance accused Tehran of interfering with international shipping and signalled a tougher response from Washington.

He stated that the US would not hesitate to act, declaring that “two can play that game.”

Former President Donald Trump ordered the naval blockade following the collapse of talks held in Islamabad.

The blockade aims to restrict maritime traffic to and from Iran, increasing economic pressure on the country.

US officials say the decision reflects a shift toward more aggressive measures after diplomacy stalled.

At the heart of the standoff is the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes.

A significant portion of global oil supply passes through the narrow waterway.

Iran had earlier imposed restrictions in the area, triggering strong reactions from the United States and raising fears of supply disruptions.

Iran has strongly condemned the blockade, warning that it could respond with countermeasures.

Officials in Tehran argue that the US action risks further destabilising the region and escalating an already tense situation.

The crisis has already begun to affect global markets, particularly oil prices, as uncertainty grows over the security of key shipping routes.

Despite the escalation, both sides have indicated a willingness to return to negotiations.

However, with military forces on alert and tensions rising, the situation remains fragile.
