Former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande has met with leaders and elders of the All Progressives Congress as the party intensifies preparations for the state’s governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15
The meeting took place at Akande’s country home in Ila Orangun on Saturday, with several senior members of the Osun APC Elders’ Caucus in attendance
Among those present was former Osun State Deputy Governor Iyiola Omisore, whose appearance alongside Akande attracted significant attention after a photograph of the two men went viral on Sunday
Participants at the meeting reviewed the party’s campaign activities and discussed areas that could strengthen the APC’s chances at the election
Sources who attended the meeting said party elders assessed the campaign and offered suggestions on how to improve the party’s position ahead of the poll
One of the participants said the Osun APC Elders’ Caucus, also known as Agba Osun, discussed the progress of the campaign and identified areas that required further attention
The meeting comes as political parties make final efforts to mobilise supporters and consolidate their positions before voters head to the polls

A photograph showing Akande and Omisore walking hand-in-hand after the meeting attracted widespread attention on social media
The image prompted speculation about a separate meeting between the two APC figures
However, a participant at the meeting said he was not aware of any private meeting between Akande and Omisore after the gathering
He explained that participants left after the main meeting
Omisore Campaign Organisation Explains
The Director-General of the Omisore Campaign Organisation, Ajibola Famurewa, confirmed that the photograph was taken after the APC elders’ meeting
According to Famurewa, Akande and Omisore had lunch together before Akande escorted the former deputy governor to his vehicle
He said their discussion focused on the party’s efforts to win the election
Famurewa added that the meeting provided an opportunity for party leaders to assess the campaign, identify challenges and suggest possible solutions
He said Omisore also contributed ideas during the discussions before the participants reached what he described as a reasonable conclusion
Osun Election Enters Final Stage
The meeting comes as the Osun governorship election enters its final days
The Independent National Electoral Commission has cleared 14 political parties to participate in the August 15 election
The contest includes the ruling Accord Party, which is fielding incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, and the APC, which is seeking to return to power in the state
With the election approaching, parties are expected to intensify their campaigns, engage voters and strengthen their mobilisation efforts across the state
Final Push for Votes
The meeting between Akande and APC leaders highlights the importance the party places on its final campaign strategy
With only days remaining before the election, party leaders must now translate their plans into effective voter mobilisation
For the APC, the focus will be on addressing campaign weaknesses, maintaining unity among its leaders and convincing voters across Osun State
As August 15 approaches, the final days of campaigning could prove crucial in determining which political party controls Osun State for the next four years.
