Professor Usman Bugaje has called on Nigerians to revive the culture of reading, describing it as an important tool for addressing the country’s challenges and promoting national development.

He made the call in Abuja during the launch of a book titled Tinubu: From Renewed Hope to Despair, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre.

Bugaje stressed that reading is particularly important at a time when Nigeria is grappling with several political, economic and security challenges.

He urged Nigerians to cultivate the habit of reading to deepen their understanding of national issues, acquire knowledge and contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.

The professor also expressed concern over the growing insecurity across the country, warning that the situation requires urgent and decisive action from the government.

He highlighted the persistent security threats facing Nigeria, including those posed by Boko Haram and other armed groups, and called on the government to strengthen efforts to protect lives and property.

Bugaje further urged the government to address food insecurity and other pressing national challenges, noting that the country faces significant gaps in governance that must be tackled to secure its future.

He maintained that Nigerians must continue to seek knowledge, remain engaged in national affairs and sustain their efforts towards reclaiming the country’s future.

According to him, reading and learning can empower citizens to understand the challenges facing the nation and contribute to the struggle for better governance.

He called on Nigerians to embrace reading as a pathway to knowledge, civic awareness and national transformation.
