A popular TikTok content creator in Kano State has been appointed to a political position following a viral controversy involving a public display of underwear during a political gathering.

The appointee, identified as Fatima Naseer Teemahcool, who leads the Gida-Gida TikTokers group, reportedly came into the spotlight after a recent incident involving supporters at a rally in Kano State.

According to reports, she has now been appointed by the Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government Area, Yusuf Imam Ogan Boye, as the officer in charge of women affairs.

The appointment letter, signed by the local government secretary, stated that the decision was based on her contributions and engagement in local political and community activities.

The development has generated mixed reactions online, given the controversial nature of the viral video that drew national attention.

Teemahcool had earlier been linked to a group of young women who participated in a political stunt involving the display of underwear during a visit by the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, to Kano State.

The incident sparked widespread debate on political conduct and social media influence in the state, with critics describing it as inappropriate, while others defended it as political expression.

Authorities in Kano had previously distanced the state government from the act, stating it was carried out by supporters acting independently.

The latest appointment has further intensified public discussion around the intersection of social media activism and political patronage in Nigeria.
