Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has threatened to expose politicians he says sponsor kidnappers in Oyo State.

Igboho made the remarks on Wednesday while receiving the new executive members of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), led by Akinteye Bàbàtunde, at his residence in the Soka area of Ibadan.

His comments came weeks after gunmen abducted dozens of pupils during attacks on three schools in Oriire Local Government Area. The incident triggered outrage and renewed concerns about insecurity in the state.

Speaking to the student leaders, Igboho accused some politicians of funding criminal groups and supplying them with ammunition. He warned that he would reveal their identities if they continued to support activities that threaten public safety.

“I know the politicians behind them. If they do not stop, I will mention them all,” he said.

The activist also revisited the school abduction. He insisted that he offered to help rescue the victims. However, he said the Oyo State Government rejected the proposal.

According to him, government officials later informed him that the abductors threatened to kill the pupils if he attempted a rescue operation. Despite the warning, Igboho maintained that his team could flush the criminals out of their forest hideouts.

He argued that authorities should adopt stronger measures to tackle insecurity and secure the release of victims.

Igboho also alleged that some political actors want to destabilise the country and weaken President Bola Tinubu’s administration. He compared the situation to the political and security challenges that confronted former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The activist further disclosed that the Federal Government approved his security outfit, Iru Ekun. He, however, said Oyo State officials prevented the group from operating in affected areas.

His remarks have added a fresh dimension to the debate over insecurity and the recent school abductions in Oyo State.
