Zainab Nasir Ahmad, Executive Director of the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS), has won The Future Awards Africa (TFAA) Prize for Public Service 2026.

Ahmad, a Nigerian humanitarian and civil society leader, was recognised for her contributions to public service and her efforts to create positive impact among young people and women, particularly at the grassroots.

The Future Awards Africa Independent (TFAAi) Awards is a state-based platform of The Future Awards Africa that recognises young leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, creatives and changemakers making a difference in their communities.

Reacting to the recognition, Ahmad described the award as a great honour and a motivation to intensify her efforts in the service of humanity.

She said the award was not only a personal achievement but also recognition of the collective efforts of individuals and organisations working to improve the lives of young people and women.

“I am deeply honoured to receive The Future Awards Africa Prize for Public Service 2026.

“This recognition means a lot to me because it validates the work we have been doing to empower young people and women, especially at the grassroots,” she said.

Ahmad dedicated the award to young people, women, colleagues and partners who have supported efforts to create positive change in communities.

“This recognition will motivate me to work harder and continue advocating for better opportunities, healthier communities and a safer future for young people,” she added.

Her work focuses on youth and women empowerment at grassroots and leadership levels, with advocacy around sexual and reproductive health, community hygiene and improved wellbeing.

She has also been involved in campaigns against drug abuse, youth violence and crime in Northern Nigeria.

The TFAAi Kano State Coordinator, Abubakar Ahmed, congratulated Ahmad, alongside other winners and nominees, for their achievements.

Ahmed urged the award recipients to remain committed to the causes that earned them the recognition and continue making meaningful contributions to society.

The grand award presentation is scheduled to take place in Lagos on November 15, 2026.

Ahmad is a multiple award-winning development worker recognised for her contributions to humanitarian and community development initiatives.
