France defeated Morocco 2-0 to book their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semi-finals, with Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé leading the charge.

After a tightly contested first half, France found another gear as Mbappé broke the deadlock before setting up Dembélé to seal the victory, proving once again why Les Bleus remain one of the tournament favourites.

This wasn’t the first time France had ended Morocco’s World Cup journey. The two nations also met in the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where France claimed a 2-0 victory to reach the final.

In Qatar 2022, goals from Théo Hernández and Randal Kolo Muani knocked out Morocco. In 2026, Mbappé and Dembélé stepped up, producing another 2-0 win that sent France through once more.

Although their tournament ended in the quarter-finals, Morocco once again showed why they are among football’s rising powers. After becoming the first African and Arab nation to reach a World Cup semi-final in 2022, they backed it up with another impressive run in 2026.

France’s blend of experience, attacking quality and tournament composure proved decisive. With Mbappé in outstanding form and Dembélé providing a constant threat, Les Bleus are now just two wins away from lifting another World Cup trophy.

France have now ended Morocco’s World Cup campaign in back-to-back tournaments. While the scoreline was identical in both meetings, Morocco’s continued progress shows the gap between the two nations is narrowing with every World Cup.

France’s quest for another world title continues, while Morocco leave with pride after another memorable campaign. One thing is certain: whenever these two nations meet on football’s biggest stage, the world pays attention.
