Dankwambo Replaces Wadada as PAC Chair

The Nigerian Senate has announced the appointment of Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo as the new Chairman of the Senate Committee on Public Accounts, following the exit of Senator Aliyu Wadada from the position.

The leadership change was confirmed during plenary, where the upper chamber adjusted committee leadership in line with recent political developments within its ranks.

Senator Wadada, who previously chaired the committee, was affected by a reshuffle triggered by his political realignment, necessitating a replacement in accordance with Senate procedures.

The Public Accounts Committee is a key oversight body responsible for scrutinising public expenditure and ensuring accountability across government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

With his appointment, Senator Dankwambo is expected to continue the committee’s mandate of strengthening fiscal oversight and promoting transparency in public finance management.

The development comes amid ongoing adjustments in Senate committee leadership following a series of political defections and alignments within the chamber. (dailytrust.com)
