A former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Jumoke Akindele, has called on aspirants within the All Progressives Congress to prioritize unity and rally behind the re-election bid of Bola Tinubu.

Speaking ahead of the 2027 general elections, Akindele who is contesting for the Ondo South Senatorial seat stressed that individual ambitions must take a back seat. According to her, the party’s collective goal should remain firmly focused on securing a second term for the President.

Furthermore, she highlighted the importance of cohesion among party stakeholders in Ondo State. With a target of delivering at least one million votes for Tinubu, she warned that internal divisions could weaken the party’s chances. As a result, she urged aspirants to align their strategies with the broader objective.

At the same time, Akindele emphasized that political contests should strengthen not fracture the party. She noted that healthy competition can sharpen leadership, but it must not come at the expense of unity. In her view, a divided structure risks losing both credibility and electoral advantage.

In addition, she called for a more strategic approach to political ambition. Rather than acting on emotion, aspirants should carefully weigh their decisions and consider the long term stability of the party. By doing so, they can contribute to a stronger and more coordinated campaign ahead of 2027.

Ultimately, Akindele’s message reinforces a central theme: unity is critical for victory. If party members remain aligned and disciplined, the APC stands a stronger chance of meeting its electoral targets and maintaining its political influence in the state and beyond.
