Massive Crowd Fills Rio Beach

More than two million fans gathered at Copacabana Beach on Saturday night. Shakira headlined a free concert in Rio de Janeiro. The show was part of the “Todo Mundo no Rio” series.

Fans arrived early to secure space on the sand. Many travelled from across Brazil and cities like Paris and London. The turnout created one of the largest concert crowds in the world.

Economic Boost for the City

City officials expect the event to generate about 777 million reais. That equals roughly $155 million. The tourism body Riotur worked with City Hall on the estimate.

Mayor Eduardo Cavaliere said the city will earn far more than it spent. He stressed that the concert strategy drives tourism and business growth.

Past shows prove the plan works. Tourist arrivals rose by 34.2% in 2024 during Madonna’s concert. The figure jumped to 90.5% in 2025 when Lady Gaga performed.

Tight Security and Busy Street Trade

Authorities deployed nearly 8,000 security officers. They used drones and facial recognition cameras to monitor the crowd. Officials also set up multiple screening points.

Street vendors sold food, drinks, and everyday items. Some even offered bags of sand to help fans see better. The area turned into a busy mini economy.

Shakira Delivers a Memorable Show

Shakira wore Brazil’s national colors on stage. Drones formed a she-wolf symbol above the crowd. She performed with Anita, Caetano Veloso, and Maria Bethânia.

She spoke in Portuguese and recalled her first visit to Brazil as a teenager. The moment marked a major milestone in her career.

Record Tour and Future Plans

The concert forms part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran” world tour. The tour has already broken records worldwide. The Rio show stands as the biggest crowd she has ever performed for.

City officials confirmed the concert series will continue. New editions are planned for 2027 and 2028.
