The Polish Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Michał Cygan, has commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their professionalism and resilience, describing Nigeria as a key stabilising force in West Africa due to its sustained counter-insurgency and regional security efforts.
The ambassador made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, at the Nigerian Air Force Headquarters in Abuja, according to a statement issued by the Director of Public Relations and Information, Nigerian Air Force, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame.
Mr. Cygan specifically highlighted the critical role of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) in combating insurgency and supporting regional peace initiatives, noting that Nigeria’s strategic position and security engagements continue to contribute significantly to stability across the West African sub-region.

He praised the operational discipline of the Nigerian Armed Forces and expressed Poland’s interest in strengthening bilateral defence cooperation, with a focus on practical areas that align with Nigeria’s security priorities.
In his response, Air Marshal Aneke emphasised the importance of strategic international partnerships in tackling contemporary and asymmetric security threats.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to collaborating with friendly nations to enhance operational effectiveness, capacity development, and intelligence and information exchange, in support of Nigeria’s national security objectives.
The Air Chief also restated the Service’s openness to mutually beneficial defence partnerships that would further strengthen counter-insurgency capabilities while contributing to regional and global security.
