Nigerian content creator Abike Rakeem, popularly known as Papaya Ex, has expressed heartbreak after her YouTube manager allegedly deleted her movie The Spotlight, which had gained 2.7 million views and more than 10,000 comments.
Papaya Ex said she instructed her manager to make the movie private because of copyright concerns, but he allegedly misunderstood the instruction and deleted the film instead. She also claimed that the manager removed the movie’s trailers and her earlier production, Night Market.
The creator described the incident as devastating, saying she invested months of effort and personal sacrifice into The Spotlight. She revealed that she fasted for 30 days while working on the project, making the loss particularly painful.
According to Papaya Ex, the deletion has also affected her mental wellbeing. She said the incident brought back memories of a similar experience she had encountered in the past.
She reportedly made several frantic calls and sent messages in an attempt to reach her manager after discovering what had happened. Her fans subsequently flooded her with messages of support.
