Nwifuru Hails Ebonyi Army Depot, Boosts National Security

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has described the Nigerian Army Depot Amasiri-Edda as a major step toward improving security and military training in Nigeria. He said the new depot will strengthen national security. Additionally, it will improve regional stability and support economic growth in Ebonyi State and the South-East.

According to a statement by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the governor made the remarks during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu. During the meeting, Nwifuru called for stronger cooperation between the Nigerian Army and the Ebonyi State Government. He said closer collaboration would improve peace, public safety and national development.

Lieutenant General Shaibu visited Ebonyi State to witness the maiden Passing Out Parade of recruits at the Nigerian Army asiri-EddaDepot Am. He described the event as a historic achievement for the Nigerian Army. Furthermore, he said the depot would improve military training and expand the Army’s manpower.

The COAS explained that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu approved the establishment of the depot. As a result, the Army can strengthen its operational readiness and expand military infrastructure across the country. He added that the Nigerian Army Depot Amasiri-Edda will train disciplined and combat-ready soldiers to address emerging security challenges.

In addition, Shaibu said the depot reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to improving security in the South-East. He praised the Ebonyi State Government for supporting the Nigerian Army. He also called for stronger intelligence sharing, civil-military cooperation and the protection of critical national assets.

Meanwhile, Governor Nwifuru commended Nigerian Army personnel for protecting Nigeria’s sovereignty and maintaining peace in Ebonyi State. He said improved security has created a better environment for investment, business and development. Therefore, he described the Nigerian Army Depot Amasiri-Edda as a landmark project for Ebonyi State and the South-East.

Finally, the governor expressed confidence that the facility will strengthen military capacity, create jobs, boost local businesses and promote national unity. He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting the Nigerian Army in carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.
