Libyan security agencies have arrested two Nigerian nationals over allegations that they circulated content on social media deemed capable of inciting violence and criminal activities.

According to reports from Libyan authorities, the suspects were taken into custody after allegedly sharing videos and other online materials considered provocative and threatening to public order. Officials claimed the content encouraged unlawful behaviour and violated the country’s regulations governing online communication.

Authorities stated that the posts posed a risk to national security and social stability, prompting an investigation that led to the arrest of the two individuals.

The detained Nigerians are currently being questioned as security agencies continue to examine the extent of their involvement and whether others may be connected to the dissemination of the content.

Libyan officials reiterated their commitment to monitoring online platforms and taking action against materials they believe could endanger public safety or promote violence.

The arrests add to ongoing efforts by the North African nation to curb activities viewed as threats to national security, particularly on digital and social media platforms.
