The Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area, Tijjani Amiru Bilyaminu, has shut down Al-Hadeed Private School in Kano State over allegations of sexual abuse involving four pupils.

The chairman announced the closure on Monday after a magistrate’s court remanded a teacher, popularly known as Uncle Kamal, in custody.

Bilyaminu said the council took the action to protect the victims and support ongoing investigations.

He also promised that authorities would prosecute anyone found guilty.

“We will continue to protect the rights of children and ensure offenders face justice,” he said.

Prosecutors arraigned the teacher before a magistrate’s court on allegations of sexually abusing four minors.

The children include seven-year-old Hassana, Hussaina, Gambo, and their five-year-old sister.

During the hearing, prosecution counsel Badamasi Gandu told the court that medical reports confirmed signs of sexual assault.

The court later ordered the remand of the suspect in a correctional facility.

The judge adjourned the case until June 6.

The incident has triggered anger and concern among residents of Ungogo and other parts of Kano State.

Many parents now question the safety measures in private schools.

Some community members have called for stricter monitoring of teachers and school operators.

Others urged authorities to improve child protection policies across schools in the state.

Child rights advocates say the case highlights the need for stronger safeguards in schools.

They want schools to conduct proper background checks on workers and create safer reporting channels for pupils.

The case has also renewed conversations about child abuse and the need for swift justice in Nigeria.
