The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over his exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying he is in search of a free presidential ticket. APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, made the comments in a post on X on Sunday, where he mocked Obi’s political moves and described him as someone constantly drifting between parties.

Morka said Obi behaves like a “political rolling stone” who keeps moving from one party to another without settling long enough to build any political structure. He alleged that Obi’s pattern shows a desire to secure an easy and uncontested path to the presidency. According to him, Obi leaves parties whenever he does not get his way and continues searching for a platform that will hand him a presidential ticket without competition.

He further accused Obi of seeking what he called a “platter of gold” route to power, claiming that the former Anambra State governor has moved across several political parties including APGA, PDP, Labour Party, and the ADC in pursuit of presidential ambition. Morka added that Obi does not remain in any party long enough to contribute meaningfully to its development or growth.

The APC spokesman said Obi’s latest exit from the ADC reflects a consistent pattern in his political career. He also mocked the move, insisting it reinforces the party’s view that Obi is a political drifter who avoids internal party competition and prefers a direct path to presidential candidacy.

Peter Obi, however, recently announced his resignation from the ADC, citing internal crises and what he described as a toxic political environment within the party. He said his decision was not driven by personal conflict with key party figures such as former Senate President David Mark and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, whom he said he still respects.

Obi also stated that his focus remains on improving governance and the welfare of Nigerians. He maintained that he is not desperate for political office and said his goal is to contribute to building a better Nigeria through competent and compassionate leadership, even after his departure from the ADC.
