Former Senate President Bukola Saraki says the challenges facing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can be resolved with decisive action.
He spoke during an interview on Channels Television on Thursday.
Saraki acknowledged the party’s internal crisis but insisted it is not beyond repair.
He said the PDP should hold a fresh National Convention. This, he explained, would produce a properly elected National Working Committee (NWC).
According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must validate the new leadership.
Saraki stressed that restoring internal legitimacy is key. He said it would rebuild trust within the party and among Nigerians.
He added that a credible leadership structure would give aspirants a solid platform ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former Kwara State governor also called for unity and strategic planning. He urged the party to present a strong alternative to Nigerians.
“At the end of the day, we owe Nigerians a serious, united, and prepared alternative worthy of their trust and confidence,” he said.
His remarks come amid ongoing leadership disputes and divisions within the PDP. These issues continue to shape debates about the party’s future and readiness for upcoming elections.
