Senator Lawal Adamu Usman has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party.
The lawmaker, who represents Kaduna Central Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate, announced the decision in a resignation letter addressed to his ward chairman.
In the letter, Senator Usman stated that his resignation from the PDP takes immediate effect.
He thanked the party for the opportunity to serve both his constituents and the nation while on its platform.
The senator explained that prolonged internal divisions within the party influenced his decision.

According to him, persistent leadership disputes and unresolved conflicts at the national level weakened party cohesion.
He said the situation made it difficult for him to continue functioning effectively within the party.
Usman said the move followed deep reflection and consultations.
He added that stepping aside was necessary to uphold principles, integrity and effective public service.
The resignation adds to recent political shifts within the PDP amid ongoing internal challenges.
