The Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission have strengthened cooperation to improve engagement with Nigerians living abroad.

Officials said the partnership will support trade facilitation, humanitarian shipments, and diaspora investment.

The development followed a high-level meeting at Customs Headquarters in Abuja.

Chairman of NiDCOM, Abike DabiriErewa, led a delegation to meet the Comptroller-General of Customs.

The delegation congratulated Adewale Adeniyi on his appointment.

However, the meeting quickly shifted from a ceremonial visit to a policy-focused discussion on collaboration.

Dabiri-Erewa commended the Customs Service for its reforms and improving public image.

Meanwhile, the Customs chief proposed structured engagement platforms with diaspora stakeholders.

One of the initiatives includes periodic forums known as “Customs Talks.”
