Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit over an alleged illegal raid on his Abuja residence.

He sued the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and three other officials.

The suit was filed on February 20, 2026, at the Federal High Court.

El-Rufai accused the agencies of violating his fundamental rights.

Court papers say the raid happened on February 19, 2026, around 2:00 p.m.

ICPC officers reportedly arrived with police and searched his home.

They acted based on a search warrant issued on February 4, 2026.

However, El-Rufai claims the warrant was defective and unlawful.

He says it failed to specify items meant to be seized.

He also alleges the warrant contained major errors in dates and address details.

According to him, the warrant lacked probable cause.

He argues the action breached constitutional and statutory provisions.

Officers allegedly seized documents and electronic devices.

They reportedly did not provide any inventory of the seized items.

The former governor says the items have not been returned.

He is asking the court to declare the search illegal.

He also seeks an order for the immediate return of his property.

El-Rufai wants the court to stop the use of seized materials as evidence.

He is demanding ₦1 billion in damages.

He claims the incident caused emotional distress and reputational harm.
