Nigeria’s Vice President, Kashim Shettima, attended the African Union High-Level Ad Hoc Committee meeting on South Sudan crisis.
The summit, tagged the C5 Plus, was chaired by South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa, in an effort to restore peace.
Discussions focused on the political and security situation in South Sudan, alongside adoption of a joint declaration.

Also present was the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf.
South Sudan President, Salva Kiir, and Djibouti’s President, Ismail Omar Guelleh, attended the high-level talks.
Algerian President, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, participated alongside representatives of Chad and Rwanda.
Chadian President, Mahamat Idriss Déby, and Rwandan leader, Paul Kagame, were represented at the summit.
Other critical stakeholders involved in resolving South Sudan’s conflict also joined the deliberations.
The meeting aims to strengthen regional cooperation and ensure lasting peace through coordinated African-led solutions.
