Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), under Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully repelled an attack launched by terrorists of ISWAP on the Forward Operating Base in Magumeri in the early hours of 7 May 2026.
Military sources said the attackers attempted infiltration under poor visibility conditions and briefly breached an isolated section of the base perimeter. However, troops responded with coordinated and sustained firepower, containing the assault and forcing the terrorists into a disorderly withdrawal.
Following the engagement, exploitation operations around the general area revealed extensive blood trails, body drags, and recovered remains of neutralised terrorists, indicating significant losses on the part of the attackers. Several weapons were also recovered, including PKT anti-aircraft machine guns, AK-47 rifles, and multiple magazines.
Regrettably, two soldiers lost their lives during the encounter. An officer and other wounded personnel are currently receiving medical treatment and are reported to be in stable condition. Some equipment and temporary structures within the base were also damaged by fire during the intense exchange.
Troops are continuing follow-up operations to consolidate gains and assess further battle damage in the area. The military high command has commended the troops for their performance, describing the outcome as a reflection of sustained pressure on terrorist elements and their reduced freedom of action within the theatre of operations.
Authorities say operations will continue across the region to prevent regrouping and to maintain security dominance.
