Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called for the exposure of individuals funding terrorism and other violent crimes in Nigeria.

Akpabio made the call on Sunday during an inter denominational church service at the National Christian Centre in Abuja. The event formed part of activities marking Nigeria’s Democracy Day celebration.

Speaking on the theme, “God of Hope, Actualise Our Dreams,” the Senate President urged Nigerians not to lose hope despite the country’s security challenges. He encouraged citizens to continue praying for peace and for those behind acts of violence to be identified and brought to justice.

Akpabio recalled his time as governor of Akwa Ibom State, where he introduced monthly prayer sessions to address kidnapping, militancy, and other security threats. According to him, prayer played an important role in strengthening hope during difficult times.

He also expressed concern over the impact of insecurity on families across the country. He said many communities continue to face attacks, while several families live in fear because of kidnappings and violent crimes.

The Senate President assured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Tinubu remains committed to improving security, rescuing abducted persons, and restoring peace nationwide.

Also speaking at the service, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, said the Federal Government is working to reduce economic hardship and strengthen efforts against insecurity.

The Democracy Day service brought together government officials, religious leaders, and worshippers to reflect on Nigeria’s democratic journey and renew hope for a safer and more prosperous nation.
