Real Madrid have confirmed the re-election of Florentino Pérez as president of the club following the conclusion of the presidential elections.
The Spanish giants announced on Monday that Pérez secured a new term after receiving the majority of votes cast by club members.
In a statement published on the club’s official website, the Electoral Board revealed that Pérez’s candidacy won 21,741 votes, representing 65 percent of the total ballots counted.
“With 100% of the in-person and postal votes counted, the candidacy headed by Mr. Florentino Pérez has won the elections for President and Board of Directors of Real Madrid,” the statement read.
Pérez comfortably defeated his rival, Enrique Riquelme, who garnered 11,814 votes, accounting for 35 percent of the votes.
The victory extends Pérez’s tenure as president of Real Madrid, a role he has held across multiple spells and during one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.
Under the new administration, Pérez will continue to work alongside a Board of Directors that includes Vice Presidents Eduardo Fernández de Blas, Pedro López Jiménez, Enrique Sánchez González, and Enrique Pérez Rodríguez.
His re-election comes as Real Madrid continue to compete at the highest level in domestic and European football while pursuing further success both on and off the pitch.
