Prof. Sani Umar Urges Action on Thuggery

Professor Muhammad Sani Rijiyar Lemo has appealed to the Kano State Government to urgently address the growing menace of thuggery, locally known as Daba, warning that allowing the trend to continue could jeopardise the safety and peace of the state.

The respected Islamic scholar expressed concern over the increasing activities of thugs in parts of Kano, stressing that insecurity poses a serious threat to community growth and development.

Professor Rijiyar Lemo called on Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and the Federal Government to take swift and decisive action before the situation worsens.

According to him, no society can achieve meaningful development in an atmosphere of fear and insecurity.

He noted that if urgent steps are not taken to curb the activities of the groups, the safety of residents and the stability of communities across the state could be at risk.

The cleric, however, commended security agencies, particularly the Nigeria Police Force, for their efforts in maintaining law and order, urging them to sustain and strengthen ongoing operations against criminal elements.

Professor Rijiyar Lemo further urged residents to support security agencies with useful information that could help tackle the menace and restore lasting peace across Kano.
