Plateau State Commissioner for Transportation, Davou Jatau, has urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to reject anti-party activities and prioritise unity as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Jatau made the call on Monday during a familiarisation visit to APC wards and districts in Jos South Local Government Area, where he led a team of government appointees. The visit was aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and improving engagement with members.
The commissioner urged APC members to remain loyal to the party and work together despite personal differences or disagreements. He advised aggrieved members to channel their complaints through established party structures and resolve disputes through dialogue rather than actions that could weaken the party.
Jatau also called on ward and local government executives to intensify mobilisation and bring members together, stressing that the APC’s strength would depend largely on a united and active grassroots structure.
He warned that members who work against the party could undermine its chances in future elections, urging them to put the collective interest of the APC above personal ambitions.
While speaking on government programmes, Jatau urged APC members to support the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
He highlighted what he described as efforts by the Tinubu administration to reposition the economy, improve security and restore investor confidence.
On Plateau State, the commissioner pointed to peace-building, infrastructure, healthcare and transportation as areas of government focus, urging party members to support programmes aimed at improving residents’ welfare.
Jatau clarified that the APC had not formally commenced its 2027 election campaign, saying the current visits were focused on familiarisation with wards and districts and strengthening the party ahead of the election season.
He urged members to use the period to reconcile differences, mobilise supporters and strengthen the party’s structures across the state.
The appeal comes amid increasing political activity ahead of the 2027 general elections, with party unity, internal grievances and grassroots mobilisation expected to remain key issues for political organisations across Nigeria.
