The Oyo State Police Command has arrested the father of a suspect linked to the PFIPC case, in addition, officers also detained a family friend during the operation in Ogbomoso.
Police officers moved into a residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Monday as a result, tension rose in the area as residents watched the operation unfold.
The police arrested the father of Prince Adeyemi Adeniyi, who is facing allegations tied to forgery and impersonation. Furthermore, they also took away a man identified as a family friend who was visiting the house.
Authorities accuse Prince Adeyemi of forgery and impersonation linked to the alleged PFIPC. Meanwhile, the case remains in court as investigations continue.
Eyewitnesses said police arrived in multiple vehicles and acted quickly. Consequently, residents gathered outside the home as the operation continued inside the compound.
Human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) has raised concerns about the arrests. He argued that police should not have detained the father when the suspect had reportedly agreed to appear in court.
So far, the police have not released an official statement on the arrests. However, the investigation into the PFIPC related allegations continues, and more updates are expected soon.
